Hub 3 - Friday and Saturday
I meant to have this done last week, but it just didn't happen. Now my goal is to get everything written up before New England Fan Experience, which is this coming weekend.
As per usual, I'm not going to get too in depth as to what people said during the panels, since I didn't take notes, and others have done a much better job than I'd ever be able to.
We got to the hotel Thursday afternoon, after taking the train from London. A rather uninteresting day overall. Friday was spent waiting a lot, since things didn't really start until the evening. The lj meetup in the bar was fun, and I got to see people I haven't since the last Hub. We had cupcakes with John's face on them. There's a picture of them below.
The opening ceremony was completely boring, so then we had time to kill before the party. The theme for the party was "Hen and Stag night," and I had a really pretty dress (yes, I do wear dresses on occasion), that I'd planned to wear both to the party and to the gold pass reception. Of course, the reception got postponed to Saturday night, so I rather quickly gave up on the dress and shoes, and ended up back in jeans.
Since I'm not huge on parties,
broksgurl717 and I wandered around the hotel for a while, and finally ended up sitting in the lobby. Which is when we saw Gareth and Gemma walk in, as well as a few other guests.
We wandered back into the party for a bit after that, where Gareth rode the mechanical sheep. My picture's not very good, but there's video of it out there somewhere! And that was about it for Friday.
Saturday started bright and early with Gareth's photo op. I still felt half asleep, as I'm sure so did everyone else. For those of you who don't know, I'm an extremely early riser, for no good reason, and no matter what time I go to sleep the night before. Plus, once I'm awake, I don't go back to sleep. So I was up early. And I'm amazed I looked even halfway awake in my picture. The rest of Saturday morning was more autographs and photo ops, and I got some really nice compliments on the pictures I used for the autographs. I had decided for this convention that I was going to design my own pictures, rather than depend on the ones given to us. A few of the guests even wanted to know where I'd gotten them from. And since they're unique, its a habit I think I'm going to continue for future cons.
Saturday afternoon were the panels. Everything seemed a bit more subdued this time, so less insanity and more seriousness, which I personally enjoyed. Like I said at the beginning, I'm not going to get into what people said, but I took a LOT of pictures. I've weeded them down to what I consider some of the better ones, but if anyone wants more, just let me know. After weeding, I've still got nearly 1000 over the two days.
Saturday night was the gold drinks reception. It was rather disorganized, and Gareth never actually got to our group. But the other guests were fun, and free alcohol is never a bad thing.
After the reception, we ran up to the room to change for the Saturday night party. I actually really liked my costume, but there was a group of guys in orange shirts (I can't remember what they were there for), who kept hitting on people and making at least me really uncomfortable. Since I didn't spend a lot of time in the party, I changed rather quickly out of that one also.
The real highlight of the party was the skit. I honestly have no idea what happened during it, but that was when Kai showed up! The rest of the skit was just a blur beyond that.
Anyways, onto the pictures now!

I had so much fun, and I really wish I was going to be able to go to the next. But I'm heading back to university next week and I won't be able to get enough time off to fly overseas again! I will get back eventually though.
Glad you like the pictures!

And yep for next weekend. By the way, when are you planning on getting there? The bus is going to take eternity, so I'm just trying to figure stuff out in my brain.
